Binghamton University East Gym Vestal, NY Number of Courts: 6 |
| Playing at the East Gym courts of
Binghamton University
is a crap shoot. What was once the main courts for the team,
decades
ago, is not for recreation purposes only. And with 14 courts
at the
West Gym to maintain, the East Gym courts tend to get
overlooked.
Many of the courts have cracks in play. Ironically, the nets
are
the best in Broome County. Many are brand new and all are
tightened
well. And in stark contrast to most public courts, the net
cranks
are left on the nets, allowing players to tighten them if they are
loose.
No windscreens but trees protect one side, and playground equipment and
hill protect another.
Of the six courts, four have cracks that are too much in play to be considered good for a competitive match. One has cracks that are along the sidelines, but mostly out of bounds. One has no cracks at all. Fortunately, most students tend to play at the West Gym courts, therefore, it is not uncommon to be able to play on one of the two good courts. This actually makes these courts a good first choice for competitive players. If one of the two good courts are taken, you can always hop on over to the West Gym to check on them. |
